Raw Food Diet *

? Cold Thai Summer Vegetable Stew ?

* I n g r e d i e n t s *
…..All quantities in this recipe are up to you! Use your intuition. ;-)
— 1 Young Coconut (water)
— Carrots, several to be juiced
— Carrots, a few to be chopped
— Peas, shelled
— Cherry Tomatoes
— Kale, with leaves torn off of stems
— Collard Greens, with leaves torn off of stems
— Red Chard, with leaves torn off of stems
— Lettuce
— Garlic Cloves
— Optional Additions…only if you need them!: sea salt, olive oil, hot pepper, avocado, corn

* P r e p a r a t i o n *
— 1) Open the young coconut—refer to this video if you need help: http://bit.ly/u9Q4j —and pour its water into your Vita-Mix, or other high-powered blender of your choice. http://bit.ly/GZsuq or http://bit.ly/3OTXD9

— 2) Add chopped carrots, shelled peas & cherry tomatoes, followed by all the leafy greens: kale, collard greens, lettuce & red chard (make sure to tear the leaves off of the thick stems first!), and any of the optional additions you might need.

— 3) Lightly blend in your Vita-Mix, but not too much…you’ll want to leave it looking like a chunky stew…and then transfer to individual soup bowls.

— 4) Run the carrots you designated for juicing through your Breville juicer, or whatever the best juicer is for you. http://bit.ly/mIrEW

— 5) Serve soup with a pitcher of carrot juice offered on the side. The carrot juice allows people to thin out, sweeten and/or tone down a spicy soup, so as to suit their individual taste buds.

— 6) Enjoy!

Quick Raw food recipes?

October 17, 2009 - 1:12 am 5 Comments

I am eating raw but I am super busy and want to make dishes to take with me while I am on the go.

I need suggestions/recipes.

Any hep would be much appreciated. I am going shopping tomorrow.

When I first went raw, years ago, I tried all of the fancy recipes, pates, etc., but eventually found that I enjoyed whole foods in their natural state the best. You can’t get much simpler than peeling a ripe banana, orange, or mango and enjoying it as it came from the earth. Same goes for a juicy cucumber, tomato, or any other fruit or veggie. Buy organic if you can, to avoid the pesticides and genetically modified stuff in commercial fruits and veggies. Be sure to balance it out with seeds, nuts, sprouts, leafy greens, etc. I LOVE a nice, fresh, salad full of raw veggies, such as kolrabi, celeriac, beets, baby carrots, white radishes, etc., and topped with a raw dressing made from spring onions, olive oil, fresh lemon juice and fresh herbs. MMMMM I find that keeping it simple and fresh is the best way to go.

Raw eating! Any quick raw recipes to share?

October 5, 2009 - 3:35 pm 2 Comments

I’m looking for any recipe that doesn’t require a dehydrator or processing. Thanks.

Fresh whole foods. :)

Salads with nuts, avocado, homemade olive oil & vinegar dressing with italian seasoning.

Make a fruit salad.

I make a island fruit jerk, which is pineapple, coconut shreds, banana slices with half a lime’s juice, agave nectar, crushed red pepper, diced onion, pepper, sea salt & diced jalapeno. It sounds gross but it’s really good.

Make guacamole in the food processor and eat it with veggies.
Make guacamole and put it on mushrooms with bragg liquid aminos.

Marinate mushrooms in bragg liquid aminos, garlic powder, onion, and mexican spices (cumin, cayenne, chili)

Green smoothies; make any kind of fruit smoothie you want, add a little sweetener (I use raw agave) and a bunch of spinach (I use up to a whole 10 oz bag)

For my sweet tooth, I mix raw cocoa powder, agave nectar, coconut oil, then mix in nuts like walnuts or macadamias.

Or i blend walnuts, cocoa powder, and medjool dates, press it into a pan, then frost with cocoa powder, agave nectar, and coconut oil. They make very wonderful "brownies".

Does anybody have any great secret raw food recipes?

October 5, 2009 - 3:35 pm 1 Comment

Pies or pasta…anything raw…i am running out of ideas.

I use this as a base to make all my dips w/ for lettuce wraps and assorted veggie sticks as well as sandwhiches etc……… some times I make dill, then chive, and then maybe taco! Goes with chips too!

Vegan Mayo

1 cup soy milk
2 1/2 cups safflower oil
1 1/2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon agave nectar
1 dash hot sauce
1 tablespoon sea salt
fresh ground black pepper

makes 3 cups

10 minutes 10 mins prep

place the soy milk in a blender, and with the belnder still running, slowly drizzle in the oil.
Continue adding the oil until it is all absorbed.
Transfer to a large bowl, and whisk in the vinegar, mustard, agave nectar, hot sauce, salt and pepper to taste.
the mayo will keep in the refrigerator, covered, for up to a week.

Veggie Dip Recipe *

Corn Salad Recipe *

? 3 Ingredient Vegetable Dip Recipe ?

* I n g r e d i e n t s *
— 10-12 cobs of corn
— 2 limes
— 2 large zucchinis (one green, one yellow, if possible)
— OPTIONAL: avocado, hot pepper and/or sea salt (add these ONLY if you really need them)

* P r e p a r a t i o n *
— 1) Using a bread knife slice the corn off of the cobs, and transfer to a food processor.

— 2) Using a citrus hand juicer squeeze lime juice over corn, and also add any of the optional ingredients, if necessary.

— 3) Blend in food processor until the consistency of a dip, and then transfer mixture to a serving bowl.

— 4) Slice zucchinis into bite-sized rounds.

— 5) Serve with dip, and enjoy!

* I n s p i r a t i o n *
— Enjoy the simplicity of whole, raw foods!

— Leave out the isolated foods, that have been chemically altered with heat, or the extraction of water.*(see clarification below)

— Eat the food that grows off the trees, or out of the ground.

— Each fruit and vegetable is a perfectly balanced piece of nature.

— Nature doesn’t isolate. Nature is whole and pure. She knows what she’s doing! She is infinitely intelligent, and already had it all figured out for us! Have faith in her infinite wisdom.

— It is NOT about eating 100% raw. It is about eating 100% HEALTHY.

— It is unfortunately today possible to be 100% raw, but totally unhealthy…for example, if you are basing your diet on heavy raw foods such as nuts, pâtés, dehydrated crackers and other dehydrated foods, raw vegan ice creams and other dessert treats.

*I know what some of you may be thinking…if he’s saying to not alter the food before we eat it, why on earth is he using a food processor? The answer is that what I mean by altering ones food, I mean altering it *biochemically* on the *molecular* level via heat (which for example denatures protein molecules, leading to a disruption of the molecular conformations themselves). I also feel that altering foods by dehydrating them, too drastically changes the way that nature intended for us to enjoy these foods. Our bodies are almost all water, so clearly, water is important to us. If the fruit or vegetable came with water in it, it should stay with it! Otherwise, our bodies would have to retrieve the same amount of missing water from our very own bodies in order to digest the dehydrated food properly. In my opinion, dehydrated foods literally dehydrate you. So please have them in moderation, and always with a glass of water…but do not make that a habit, as whole fruits and vegetables are always best!
