Does anyone know the list of raw fruits and veggies Dr. Oz recommended on Oprah?

January 20, 2010 - 8:05 pm 7 Comments

There is a strict ‘11 lb detox diet’ Dr. Oz puts a few people on, he discusses it on Oprah, but I cannot seem to find the list of fruits and vegetables! help!

Dr. Oz showed a basket with 11 pounds of fruits, vegetables and nuts, to demonstrate the quantity of food represented. The basket contained blueberries, nuts, broccoli, cauliflower and other naturally colorful foods.

— I love fruits and vegetables…so I feel more like a fruit and vegetable teacher, than a raw food teacher! :D

— The Truth is in between the words. On your spiritual journey, you will soon wake up to realize that you do not know ANYTHING. Or, you may already be aware of this right now. :D

— Fruits, vegetables and herbs are for so many different types of people: they are for athletes, they are for people who want to lose weight, they are for people who like to meditate, they are for those who need to heal up chronic and degenerative diseases… basically, they are for everyone!

— The *life force* inside of you is what shines, and is what is most attractive in others. Fruits and vegetables simply allow you to exude this life force energy more easily and freely than dead, cooked and/or processed foods. You literally are what you eat!

— Do the work now! Plant the seeds, read the spiritual books, apply the teachings of the nutrition, practice meditation, kindness, forgiveness & patience… and most importantly, practice stopping the ego from reacting and wasting your precious energy! If you are unable to stop the ego, at the very least just observe it doing what it does with awareness…but do not judge! Just be aware. Awareness is always the first step… :D

? Mixed Veggie Carrot Cabbage Corn Salad Recipe with
Homemade Healthy Tomato Citrus Salad Dressing ?

* I n g r e d i e n t s *
For the SALAD:
— 1 head of Cabbage, cut into 4-8 large chunks that can fit through your food processor
— Leftover Salad from Last Night (whatever kind that might be!)
— 4-6 Carrots (unpeeled if organic, or peeled if inorganic)
— 2-4 cobs of Corn

For the DRESSING:
— 5 cloves of Garlic
— 2-4 Tomatoes
— 3 Limes

* P r e p a r a t i o n *
— 1) Using your food processor’s chopper blade attachment, run the cabbage through your food processor, followed by last night’s leftover salad, and then transfer everything to a serving bowl or platter.

— 2) Switching to the shredder blade of your food processor, run the carrots through, then toss over the rest of your salad.

— 3) Slice the corn off of the cobs, and then layer over the carrots.

— 4) To make the dressing, roughly chop the tomatoes, and along with the 5 cloves of garlic toss them into your Vita-Mix blender, or other high-powered blender of your choice. http://bit.ly/GZsuq or http://bit.ly/3OTXD9

— 5) Use a manual citrus juicer or a citrus hand juicer to squeeze the juice of the limes into the Vita Mix as well.

— 6) Blend until desired consistency is reached.

— 7) Drizzle dressing over salad or offer it on the side…your lunch or dinner is now served; enjoy!

— I feel overtaken by love for all of you! This is a dream come true to be able to share what’s in my heart with you. I almost feel engulfed in the fire of love. I feel so happy!

— There is a difference between stimulated & nervous energy, versus a more chill, but powerful dynamic energy. Dynamic energy is a living, cellular energy that people can pick up on when you walk into a room. It is a more subtle form of energy, like a peaceful illumination of your inner being. CAUTION: As we raise up the inner energy, we may find ourselves having to deal with obstructive energies such as fear, anger and greed (the “welfare” emotions).

— I do like carrots, but on the whole I don’t like to eat too many other root vegetables. I find that if I consume too much of them, that it brings me ‘down’ too far in the earth, for they are very elemental, grounding, rooting…all good qualities for sure, but only in moderation.

— You’ve probably noticed by now that unlike many other raw food chefs or teachers, I do not like to dehydrate anything. Krista and I gave our dehydrator away long ago! However, it was helpful for me when I first went raw as I was able to make some tasty things…but I also simply did not know any better at that time. ;)

— For on the whole, I have observed that consuming dehydrated foods literally dehydrates you and sucks water out of you, as your body looks to replace the water that was taken out of the foods so that it can actually digest them! Also, dehydration leads to inflammation…so if you want to instead be beautiful with nice, vibrant and soft skin, then consume a hydrating diet of high-water fruits and vegetables! By the way, you may find yourself needing to drink less water overall as you’ll be getting so much more water from the fruits and vegetables…this is entirely normal, and puts a whole new spin on the “How much water should I be drinking every day for health?” conundrum…

— On this path of true health that we are all on together, we need to support each other! We need to spread this message of love, truth and unity to everyone, starting with our close friends and family members.

Looking for some delicious healthy raw food recipes? Would anyone like to share your favorite?

November 1, 2009 - 8:44 am 4 Comments

If you check out the raw food groups on yahoo, you will find some great ones with all sorts of gourmet raw. I did those for awhile, but I find that you just can’t beat plain ol raw veggies and sprouts. Have you looked into home sprouting? I harvest three trays a day of alfalfa, mung, fennungreek, radish, clover, brocolli, sunflower, chickpea, green pea, yellow pea, chia (think chia pet) and lentil sprouts. They grow in two to three days, and are loaded with enzymes and flavor. I take a variety of them, and wrap them in a lettuce leaf (like a spring roll) and dip them in raw dressing (green onion or peas with olive oil, salt, pepper, agave nector and raw vinegar) I also make raw bars by combining nuts, seeds, dates, agave, and coconut in a blender or food processor, and roll them up in wax paper like slice and bake cookies-then I slice them and dehydrate in my food dehydrator-yummy and great for a snack I eat about 80 percent raw, the rest just lightly steamed veggies. I recently discovered kolrabi-it is sort of like a turnip, but not too strong. Absolutely wonderful raw-doesnt even need seasoning!

Why do people go on raw food diets?

August 30, 2009 - 6:48 am 3 Comments

I know that veggies have more nutrients when raw but that’s all I know. I am vegan but I’m not sure about the raw food thing…
But isn’t everything they eat raw? Or do they only eat fruits and veggies?

I started eating raw quite by accident — I just did not cook, but ate what I called a "progressive salad" - I would prepare a salad on a base of chopped cabbage, and eat what I wanted then put what was left in the refrigerator. Each day, I would add something to the mix, until I finally ate the whole bowl by the end of the week.

I eat raw vegetables and fruit, as well as raw nuts and seeds, and sprouts. This does not mean only salads — I grind things up and make pates, soups, casseroles, desserts, and other things. I also drink smoothies.
