March 6, 2010 - 10:31 pm 25 Comments

Sometimes in comes in this form: “How do I gain weight on the raw food diet?”

Other times it’s: “Help, I’m loosing weight too fast and I need help!”

Not that bad of an issue to have, but for some this means loosing muscle mass as well (I know, it happened to me).

Here’s my answer…

RAW FOOD COWBOY ;) Zucchini—Corn—Tomato—Leek—Dill—Lime—Avocado Salad

Vegetable Salad Recipes—Easy Healthy Recipes—Raw Food Diet Menu—Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes—Raw Food Weight Loss—

Ummm…have you ever seen a zucchini so large?

? Zucchorny Salad! ?

* I n g r e d i e n t s *
—all quantities are up to you!—
— Zucchinis / Courgettes
— Raw Corn on the Cob (yes, totally raw, NOT even so much as lightly steamed…although if you need to steam them, we won’t tell anyone…)
— Cherry Tomatoes
— Beefsteak Tomatoes
— Leeks
— Fresh Dill
— 1 Lime
— 1 Avocado

* P r e p a r a t i o n *
— 1) Using your food processor’s shredder blade, make zucchini (aka courgette) “noodles.” The Cuisinart I use: http://bit.ly/y7RO7

— 2) Slice corn off of the cobs, and mix together with the cherry tomatoes & the zucchini noodles you just made in a large serving bowl.

— 3) For the dressing, roughly chop the beefsteak tomatoes as well as the leeks, and toss them along with the fresh dill into your Vita-Mix, or other high-powered blender of your choice. The Vitamix I use: hhttp://bit.ly/X81Uu (If desired, you can toss some of the chopped leeks directly into your salad)

— 4) Use a manual citrus juicer or a citrus hand juicer to squeeze the juice of the lime over everything in the Vitamix. You can find manual citrus juicers here: http://bit.ly/4isIOU

— 5) Roughly chop the avocado into the Vitamix as well, and blend until desired consistency is reached.

— 6) Drizzle salad dressing over salad or serve on the side, and enjoy!

* I n s p i r a t i o n *
— When you add ingredients to your Vitamix or blender, think of adding the moister, juicier ingredients towards the bottom…this will allow your blender to blend everything more smoothly, and much more easily! For example, I always put my tomatoes in the bottom…and I never put avocados in first!

— I don’t eat a lot of onions, leeks & garlic, etc., as I’ve been becoming more and more sensitive to them, the more fruitarian I eat…i.e., the more fruit I eat. I’m getting more sensitive to foods in general, and my consciousness says that these foods will one day not be part of my diet at all…that I’ll be focusing more on foods like cucumbers, watermelons, soft & tender leafy greens, etc. Just really simple, clean eating! With low metabolic wastes…

— Foods like onions and garlic have ‘plant protectants’ in them, so it takes more energy & work for your body to process them. You have to continually use alkaline minerals to neutralize the stimulating properties of these foods. These foods are classified as “rajasic” in the Hindu system of traditional medicine called Ayurveda, which includes foods that are bitter, sour, salty, pungent, hot and/or dry, and are thought by some to promote sensuality, greed, jealousy, anger and delusion. Yeah, I think I’m pretty much over those feelings, but I definitely will admit they were a big part of my life in the past (as many of you know, I had a rough childhood and a rocky, unstable time well into & throughout my 20’s.)

— Today, I’m leaning more towards a ’sattvic’ way of eating, which in Ayurveda refers to foods that are fresh, juicy, light, nourishing & tasty, and thus give necessary energy to the body and help achieve balance. Does that sound good to you too? ;)

— The winter is fast approaching and we will be hitting the road as soon as we can’t stand how cold it has become. We do find it is nice right now to just be able to ‘chill’ and work on building up this YouTube channel as well as our website (which someday we will release, and only God knows when!) without any distractions from the road.

— That being said, once we do get out of here we will be coming to a town near you! Well, on the west coast first at least! Let us know if you are located anywhere from Washington State down to Southern California and over to Arizona (but not too far from the main roads), and would like to see us swing by! Before inviting us anywhere, please DO keep keep in mind our RV is 40-feet long, alright?? ;-)

— Also, once we hit the road, prepare to see this channel turn into something along the lines of a raw vegan adventure channel, with an educational twist & a focus on love…camping, hiking, hot springing, etc….so who knows what adventures the road will bring us! We will try to throw up more videos on the road, but will just leave Krista’s notes out on the adventure-type ones so we can get more of them up quickly for you to enjoy! So…what do you guys think? We would love to hear your thoughts & ideas! ;)

Raw Food Recipe ~ Zucchini Pasta with Cheezie Sauce

February 22, 2010 - 5:31 pm 10 Comments

My first time making zucchini pasta and using my spiralizer. I LOVE IT! The difference in this cheese sauce recipe is that i didnt put nutritional yeast in it or lemon juice. I believe it is actually better without the lemon juice. This will definitely be a recipe I use frequently!

~Since adapting the raw food lifestyle 5 months ago, I, (Laura) have released 34 pounds. Currently I am 75% raw and still in transition. A medical diagnosis of severe anemia and leukemia prompted the change from a vegetarian diet to a raw food vegan lifestyle. I have experienced immense improvement in lab/blood tests as well as in energy and overall health since switching to raw foods. UPDATE: The anemia is now reversed and cured!!!~

— I love fruits and vegetables…so I feel more like a fruit and vegetable teacher, than a raw food teacher! :D

— The Truth is in between the words. On your spiritual journey, you will soon wake up to realize that you do not know ANYTHING. Or, you may already be aware of this right now. :D

— Fruits, vegetables and herbs are for so many different types of people: they are for athletes, they are for people who want to lose weight, they are for people who like to meditate, they are for those who need to heal up chronic and degenerative diseases… basically, they are for everyone!

— The *life force* inside of you is what shines, and is what is most attractive in others. Fruits and vegetables simply allow you to exude this life force energy more easily and freely than dead, cooked and/or processed foods. You literally are what you eat!

— Do the work now! Plant the seeds, read the spiritual books, apply the teachings of the nutrition, practice meditation, kindness, forgiveness & patience… and most importantly, practice stopping the ego from reacting and wasting your precious energy! If you are unable to stop the ego, at the very least just observe it doing what it does with awareness…but do not judge! Just be aware. Awareness is always the first step… :D

— 5 cloves of Garlic

— 2) Switching to the shredder blade of your food processor, run the carrots through, then toss over the rest of your salad.

— 3) Slice the corn off of the cobs, and then layer over the carrots.

— 4) To make the dressing, roughly chop the tomatoes, and along with the 5 cloves of garlic toss them into your Vita-Mix blender, or other high-powered blender of your choice. http://bit.ly/GZsuq or http://bit.ly/3OTXD9

* I n s p i r a t i o n *
— I feel overtaken by love for all of you! This is a dream come true to be able to share what’s in my heart with you. I almost feel engulfed in the fire of love. I feel so happy!

— There is a difference between stimulated & nervous energy, versus a more chill, but powerful dynamic energy. Dynamic energy is a living, cellular energy that people can pick up on when you walk into a room. It is a more subtle form of energy, like a peaceful illumination of your inner being. CAUTION: As we raise up the inner energy, we may find ourselves having to deal with obstructive energies such as fear, anger and greed (the “welfare” emotions).

— I do like carrots, but on the whole I don’t like to eat too many other root vegetables. I find that if I consume too much of them, that it brings me ‘down’ too far in the earth, for they are very elemental, grounding, rooting…all good qualities for sure, but only in moderation.

— You’ve probably noticed by now that unlike many other raw food chefs or teachers, I do not like to dehydrate anything. Krista and I gave our dehydrator away long ago! However, it was helpful for me when I first went raw as I was able to make some tasty things…but I also simply did not know any better at that time. ;)

— For on the whole, I have observed that consuming dehydrated foods literally dehydrates you and sucks water out of you, as your body looks to replace the water that was taken out of the foods so that it can actually digest them! Also, dehydration leads to inflammation…so if you want to instead be beautiful with nice, vibrant and soft skin, then consume a hydrating diet of high-water fruits and vegetables! By the way, you may find yourself needing to drink less water overall as you’ll be getting so much more water from the fruits and vegetables…this is entirely normal, and puts a whole new spin on the “How much water should I be drinking every day for health?” conundrum…

— On this path of true health that we are all on together, we need to support each other! We need to spread this message of love, truth and unity to everyone, starting with our close friends and family members.
